For over a decade The Shack, Located one block outside of downtown Staunton, has relied on the best growers, makers and producers in our region for our raw ingredients. While we have undergone substantial changes through the years our goals of supporting sustainability within our community have not. Chef Ian Boden’s modern cooking combines his Jewish eastern European roots with the traditions of the region and has garnered two James Beard Award Nominations as well as receiving Three Stars from The Washington Post.

Chef Michael “Skip” Skipper

Born in Germany and raised in Reading, PA Chef Skipper started his cooking career at his local slice shop. After spending three years at The Shack Skip went on to explore his obsession with both pasta and pizza. With his return to The Shack, he’s excited to share that obsession and what he’s learned along his journey.
